CUA50820: Diploma of Music (Sound Production)

The Diploma Course operates for one year over four terms, three days per week. It enables students to develop the skills and knowledge required to further their abilities and career opportunities in the areas of Music & Sound Production in the music industry.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The Diploma Course operates for one year over four terms, three days per week.
This course involves scheduled classroom-learning activities and simulated industry-based training and assessment. Training is delivered in face-to-face classroom and recording studio sessions, combined with live mixing in selected venues, and self-paced learning. Students are required to research & prepare work in their own time in response to assessment tasks. These include scenario responses, projects, observations, portfolio responses, research tasks and presentation activities.


Written learning activities reinforce the theoretical knowledge and practical skills are developed in the studio and on location. Students will be provided with reference material to assist in developing knowledge of music business practices, and examples of professional work to assist in developing practical and critical listening skills. 

The Grove Studios Academy offers recognition of prior learning and recognises the outcomes issued by other RTOs. If you have prior learning or hold current competency, let us know during your enrolment.


Term 1 focuses on studio recording & mixing basics, live sound production, safe practices and providing freelance services

Term 2 continues development of studio recording & mixing skills, sound editing, and researching individual career pathways in the music industry

Term 3 extends recording skills and knowledge into the area of record production & the understanding of copyright requirements, and also commences the study of sound design and location recording for film productions

Term 4 continues record production, implementing sound designs and editing dialogue for films and exploring opportunities for involvement in the music industry

UNITS OF STUDY

CUA50820: Diploma of Music (Sound Production).

The Diploma Course has 16 units of competency. The units of competency are comprised of 4 core units and 12 elective units to be issued the qualification CUA50820: Diploma of Music (Sound Production), a learner must be assessed as competent in all 16 units of competency.
The Grove Studios Academy has selected the elective units of competency to ensure that the learners are provided with a broad set of specialised and unique abilities that will enhance the scope of their career pathways.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification specified within the Arts and Culture Training Package (CUA).  Noting this, The Grove Studios Academy requires students who undertake this course to:
- Be aged 16 years or over.
- Have suitable language, literacy, and numeracy skills to read and comprehend learning materials and perform tasks related to this course.
- To ensure all students have the required level of LLN skills, The Grove Studios Academy will assess a learner’s core skills during their enrolment to ensure they have adequate skills to complete the training. 

All students will be required to complete the Learning and Literacy Assessment as well as a Student Interview.

The Grove Studios Academy can provide additional learning support to students who require basic assistance. 

For students who have more fundamental support needs, The Grove Studios Academy can refer these students to a specialist language, literacy and numeracy development provider who can assist students to raise their skills to the required standard,
